As Principal of Murarrie State School I am pleased to introduce you to our unique and innovative small school, and share some of the exciting things that take place on a daily basis.
It is with a great sense of pride that I speak of quiet achievements that have grown since the inception of an Eco Student philosophy (Prep to Year 7), since 2005. With a committed and experienced staff, students are provided with the appropriate learning tasks, the most effective feedback, and the necessary celebrations of success. Staff is motivated and keen to ensure that learning builds on the students’ Indigenous and other cultural knowledge. The diversity of students’ cultural knowledge strengthens the whole school community, determining new directions in our curriculum, teaching and assessment.
Murarrie students have blossomed over the years in their efforts as responsive and caring citizens, with effective communication skills to support each other. The great advantage of a small school is the capacity of staff to develop strong connections with every student. This knowledge allows staff to implement real life opportunities in Literacy, Numeracy, and how they are then transferred to further Essential Learnings.Staff also implements real life opportunities that enhance team building and peer mentoring, and ultimately, a whole school team of respectful and resilient learners. The successes that are achieved can be observed by the milestones that each student makes – a precious gift to have in a complex and challenging global world of change.
Our web site provides a small insight into the great things on offer – a small school with many opportunities and great facilities. Please enjoy!
