Our school

Located on the “best real estate in town”, Murarrie State School’s location near the Gateway Bridge, adjacent to the suburbs of Cannon Hill, Park Hill and Tingalpa, provides an idyllic backdrop for learning. The school community has the ‘feel of the country' where learning takes place in an atmosphere of tranquillity. The large traditional buildings are sprawled across an expansive scope of grounds, bushtucker gardens and adventure playground equipment to compliment the students’ academic pursuits.

The school’s parent and study body boasts a wealth of diversity in family structures, cultures, and social contexts. Parents play an important part in the learning process and we respect this. This diversity empowers the Murarrie State School learning processes for everyone.

Our diversity leads to a range of perspectives that are brought to the minds and lives of the students. Learning utilises the Australian Curriculum (English, mathematics, science, and history) as the platform for broader explorations of the learner’s place, and how he/she responds. Our teaching capitalises on real life incentives, the “why and how” of what is taught, derived from research in the Yumi Deadly RAMR (QUT) model.

Learning is brought to life through applications of the Australian Curriculum and its relevance to each child’s space and place. The school is passionate about its vision - “Thriving minds” - guiding the understandings of Murarrie State School's learners, implemented in our charter of how the school progresses for the next three years.
